Summary

Survival of the fitest, sums up this book perfectly. A group of British boys get stranded on an island. In order to survive they elect a leader, however one boy gets jealous and starts his own camp, where he is the leader. Over time many of the boys went to the other camp. In the book it shows how savage people really are and how far people are willing to go to survive.

Our Thoughts

It shocked all of us how far the boys would go to survive and how savage they could become in a couple of months. Also the fact that they turned against each other was very surprsing. Nevertheless, the book was very well written, and was a favorite of ours in English class.

William Golding

William Golding published this book in 1954 after twenty-one rejections. He started teaching in 1935 but he stopped and joined the Royal Navy in 1940. He was then awared the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1983. Unfortunately, he passed away on June 19th, 1993.
