Favorite Chapter Activity #2

Our favorite chapter activity that we worked on was the soundtrack. It was our very first chapter activity and it was extremely fun to work on. Out of all the other chapter activities we did, we definitely loved our soundtrack because it was more interesting than the others and we also got to pick songs that connected to the story which was really fun. We did try to make a mash-up that did not turn out very well but we got to get creative with it. The soundtrack includes five songs that we thought related to the Kite Runner.

Sad Song by We The Kings ft. Elena Coats

This song represents Baba's death and how it affected people. The chorus, "Without you I feel broke, like I'm half a whole, without you, I've got no hand to hold, without you I feel torn. Like a sail in a storm. Without you, I'm just a sad song. I'm just a sad song" really represents how Amir felt after Baba's death. It also represents Hassan and Amir's friendship. I hate you I love you by GNash

This song represents Amir and Hassan's friendship on an emotional level. "I hate you I love you" reminds us about how Hassan really cared for Amir but did not really get that feeling back from Amir. It also represents Amir and Baba's relationship and how Amir is almost always never good enough for Baba. Human by Christina Perri

This song represents Baba's death and how Amir breaks down and how it is only human. Amir does have feelings just like everyone else and sometimes he crashes and breaks down, just like how in the song it says, "I'm only human and I crash and I break down." It is also about how words do hurt him. It also represents how Amir feels after seeing how much Afghanistan changed and how sick Rahim Khan is. Thousand Years by Christina Perri

This song represents Amir and Soraya's marriage. It is about the time they met and how Amir had his eyes set on her for a while. It is about how both Soraya and Amir had to wait and how he will always love her. Lost Boy by Ruth B.

This song represents how writing is Amir's escape from reality. This song is really about escape so it definitely can relate to how important and passionate Amir was about writing. It is about an escape from the past because 'Neverland' represents America and how it became a place where Amir could leave everything that happened in Afghanistan behind, a new place to call home. Soraya also represents Peter Pan because she was the one who was willing to stay with him and how she will always be there for Amir.
