Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is the first book in the series. The book is all about Clary Fray and how the world she knew gets turned upside down. She is out one day when she stumbles across three teenagers killing someone. They say they are a group known as Shadow hunters. The thing about shadow hunters is that regular people can’t see them. So they wonder how Clary can see them. One day, Clary's mom is taken away and something from Clary's past is revealed. In order to help save her mother, Clary teams up with the Shadow hunters. Follow along with Clary as she finds out more about her past and the world she has been living in.
Mortal Instruments: City of bones is one of my favorite books. I love the whole concept of another world existing that we humans cannot see. I generally read a lot of fiction books, and this book was great. It was a perfect mixture of action, and drama/love. It was so exhilarating, and as I was reading I could not help but wish to live in that world with demons, vampires, werewolves, warlocks, and especially shadow hunters. The story itself was great I love all the things that Cassandra Clare thought of, I feel like I have an imagination similar to hers, so the fact that this book even exists is great. I really enjoyed reading it, so I started reading the other books in the series. And I really do suggest reading the series.
The book really reminds me of myself, and the people around me, how we all see the world differently, and how we all have our "demons". This book is about saving the world and keeping the human race from seeing the demons and from dying. Well in my life I see the world differently sometimes and I try to keep my "demons" away from people, just like how the shadow hunters do. And by demons I mean my thoughts, and I know that there are many other supernatural creatures in the book and they represent the strangers in my life. In the book there is an evil side and a good side however they all want the same thing, much like in my life I have a good side and a bad side, but in the end that does not matter what matters is what I want to matter. Also in the book when Clary is in Luke's office and she overhears what he says, the feeling of betrayal she got from that really reminded of me about that time when I really trusted this one person and he betrayed me. He talked bad about me behind my back and after that I never felt like I could trust him.
Follow along with Clary as she finds out more about her past and the world she has been living in.
"The boy never cried again, and he never forgot what he'd learned: that to love is to destroy, and that to be loved is to be the one destroyed."- Jace Wayland, Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
