This Lullaby is a book about a girl named Remy, who has her life figured out. She is heading off to Stanford in the fall, her mom is getting married, and everything is going well. Remy has had a hard past with men in her life, so she has made these rules that she follows about relationships: Never get too serious, never let him break your heart, and never date a musician. This all changes, one day when she meets Dexter. Join Remy on her journey where she figures out what love is all about, and how sometimes change is good.
This book can relate to any teenage girl or woman who has had her heart broken, eventually you build up these walls and you have rules for yourself. Sometimes these rules could include things like never get to clingy, or never date someone younger. Whatever happened to you in your past relationships is going to affect the way you think about them. However, one day that could all change, you may meet the right guy and everything you built up could come crumbling down. This is exactly what happened in This Lullaby, Remy was so scared of relationships from what she had seen, so she built up walls and was scared to love, she was scared to admit it because she thought that it would not last.
This Lullaby was a great book, the lesson I learned is just because you have a few bad experiences in life, doesn’t mean you should be scared of living it. This is a great lesson that everyone should learn, and I love how in the book there was all this drama that eventually got fixed. This book was so exciting and interesting, I never wanted it to end.
"Holding people away from you, and denying yourself love, that doesn't make you strong. If anything, it makes you weaker. Because you're doing it out of fear."
