The book Hoot starts off like all the other typical novels that includes a character who moves to a new place. Roy the protagonist makes friends with a couple of people but along with friends he makes an enemy. To sum up the book, Roy, followed by Beatrice are both determined to stop the construction of a pancake house from being built on top of an owl burrowing. As they try everything in their power to stop the construction, all characters in the book get into serious trouble. Is it all worth it?

This book was okay. It didn't interest me that much. Although it did have a lot of action and adventures. But to me it just seems like all other typical books out there. It did teach some lessons though. The book contained messages and morals. Also one of the theme that was expressed was courage. And you could tell that was one of the theme because the two main characters who were in middle school tried everything in their power to argue with a grown man.
