“Thirteen Reasons Why” , by Jay Asher is one of the books that i've read this semester. This book won’t make you sleep nor will it bore you. Every single chapter of this book is intense and makes you want to continue reading chapters. Thirteen reasons why is a book about a highschool girl who committed suicide. Throughout the story she leaves cassettes behind and explains that each person who gets one is responsible in some way for her death, and that the tapes will explain why.
Themes in my opinion in this story include death, guilt and blame. Death is present in almost every line in the book. Death,is what centers on the audio-taped suicide note of teenage Hannah Baker, the protagonist of this novel. Another theme that I think that is expressed in this novel is guilt and blame. Hannah Baker's cassettes are a huge guilt trip. She wants her listeners to feel bad for the way they treated her.
