Eleanor & Park (AR Book Review)

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell was a very beautiful and adorable book about two young high school students named Eleanor and Park. Eleanor is new to the school and was judged for being chubby and her sense of fashion. Not only was she getting bullied at school, she was often abused at home by her stepdad, Richie. Park was considered popular at the school and had an amazing family. The first day of school for Eleanor was terrible because she was rudely offered a seat on the bus by Park since there were no seats available. They sat next to each other on the bus everyday which eventually led into a relationship. It was extremely tough for the two to act like a “normal” couple with all the bullying from the students at school and Eleanor’s stepdad who would not allow a relationship. They go through many obstacles as a couple and had many crazy adventures together throughout their journey.

I really enjoyed reading this book because I love reading romance books such as Eleanor & Park, the Fault in our Stars, and If I Stay. It was such an adorable book because Rowell beautifully wrote the story and I felt as if I was actually watching their journey. I felt the emotions behind each character in the story and I believe that it was written really well and realistic. This story is similar to Romeo and Juliet in a way because they had so much trouble spending time with each other because of both of their families. It also brings me back to the Fault in our Stars because at the end of both books, one person leaves the other and doesn’t come back.
